Unfortunate Comments From Students Who Didn't Prepare Themselves as I Recommend
How to do well in my classes FAQ, I suggest that one "prepare to be discomforted somewhat and handle that discomfort in a proper manner." Here's a sampling of student-teacher exchanges that indicate this suggestion isn't always taken to heart. I was going to annotate these, but, after thinking about it, they actually speak for themselves, so I've only annotated when really necessary. I've left all spelling, punctuation, grammar etc. errors intact (if one's going to gripe about how rigorously I grade for these things, one should at least give me reason to think I didn't have to in the first place!). Also, this is where I place my conspiracy-based comments, which are of particular interest to me since they presume so many, many things that are contrary to my views of my role as an educator.
Note: These comments seem to come mostly from students at one particular type of institution. I'm not going to say what that type of institution is, but you might be able to guess from hints found throughout.
